The Year They Burned The Books Collage

I've finished my collage based on "The Year They Burned the Books" for my Literature of Diversity class.

It's a mixed media on cardboard, and I used a variety of things to reflect the plot and message of the book. This piece is very much based on the self battle of many of the characters in the book.. I used different images and mediums to symbolize lots of things-conformity and non conformity, religion, censorship, and acceptance.

Most of the images come from old Time magazines that I cut up, the background is acrylic paint and some ink, and the bottom is covered with pieces of a burnt newspaper. I also glued some matches on different parts of the collage.

A gorgeous piece. It's come together really, really, really well.

I'm not familiar with the book, but I'll look it up.
Did you like it?

@illy-doll I did like it, I thought it had a great story line, and it was a rather realistic reflection of society and its taboos that seem to exist everywhere. It was pretty good!
